Kilgore woman dies in wreck with freight truck

A 27-year-old Kilgore woman was killed in a car wreck Thursday afternoon on Texas 31 in Smith County.

According to Texas Department of Public Safety reports, Carrie Lynne Harris was driving a 2001 Ford car east on Texas 31 at about 5:10 p.m. A car in front of her slowed to turn right into a private drive, and Harris swerved to the left, striking a westbound freight truck almost head-on, the DPS report said.

The driver of the truck, Ricardo Dominguez, 44, was transported to East Texas Medical Center in Tyler, where he was treated and released.

Harris, who was wearing a seatbelt, was pronounced dead at the scene by a Smith County justice of the peace.

Trooper Robert Johnson investigated the crash.

Services for Harris are pending at Rader Funeral Home of Kilgore.
